Past U.S. Presidents have accepted their Presidential nominations in the Gold Room. On February 14, 1920, a group known as the National American Woman Suffrage Association held an event in the Gold Room. The ratification of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote was celebrated. Its mission achieved, the National American Women Suffrage Association was transformed that night by vote into the League of Women Voters. In 1995, the League returned to our Gold Room to commemorate the 75th anniversary of its founding. Its members, many of whom were attired in 1920's period clothing, were as impressed by the beauty of the Gold Room as their 1920's counterparts. | | |
